Eating Vegan in Martha’s Vineyard

As someone who lives less than a half hour away from Cape Cod, I spend a lot of time down there in the summer. Naturally, I visit Martha’s Vineyard pretty frequently. If you’ve never heard of the Vineyard, it’s a cute little island right off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Before I go on any trip, no matter how big or small, I like to look up vegan food options just to be a bit prepared. When I tried to find vegan options on Martha’s Vineyard, I was super disappointed to find that no one had written about it! So for all of you fellow vegans going to the Vineyard, I did all the work for you! I have compiled a list of all of the vegan places I found on my little day trip. I can honestly say I had some of the best food of my entire life on the island.

Not Your Sugar Mama’s

Does this name sound familiar? If so, maybe you’ve had the pleasure of having Not Your Sugar Mama’s chocolate! I have been obsessed with the brand forever because they are the only people who make good vegan white chocolate! I had absoltely no idea that they had an adorable little cafe!

I had the absolute pleasure of trying the cheesy marinara flatbread. The whole restaurant is grain and gluten free and in all honesty, I was slightly skeptical of it. But I had never seen vegan flatbread anywhere else, so I had to have it.

I swear to god, this was one of the top 5 meals I’ve had in my entire life. I wish I could fly all of you to the Vineyard just to try this flatbread. I think I said “oh my god” about 649 times while eating it. I’m already planning a trip back to the vineyard and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t partially to eat here.

Ben and Bill’s Chocolate Emporium

I STRONGLY regret not taking a photo of this, but I was so excited to eat it that the thought didn’t even cross my mind. VEGAN SOFT SERVE. I REPEAT. VEGAN SOFT SERVE. Walking through the streets of Oak Bluffs, I was secretly being tortured by the smell of waffle cones and children eating ice cream covered with rainbow sprinkles. Then as I was just strolling along and I see a sidewalk sign with those three beautiful words.

Before I was vegan, soft serve ice cream was MY FAVORITE. While pressed juicery does have vegan soft serve, it’s just not the same. This soft serve was so incredible and I am truly disappointed that I didn’t go back for seconds.

Toccopuro Coffee

Oak Bluffs, MA

If I were to include every coffee shop I went to in the vineyard, I would be writing this post for 7 years. The only reason I am including this is because I had the best smoothie of my entire life here. My friend and I biked all around the vineyard, so by the time we reached Oak Bluffs, I was in need of a quick little refresh in smoothie form. I decided on the sunrise smoothie and that was the best decision of my life. It was so refreshing and sweet.

Fat Ronnies

Fat Ronnie’s was our last stop of the day. We had to hang around the Marina to wait for our boat, but we were STARVING at this point. Fat Ronnie’s was advertising a veggie burger outside, so we had to give it a shot! The whole place was so cool. It was set up almost like subway. You order what kind of burger you like, then when it is ready, you can chose your toppings. Everyone there was so accommodating. I got the vegan burger with corn, lettuce, avocado, and extra pickles. It was so good and so seasoned! I will absolutely be back.

If you have never been to Martha’s Vineyard, I really suggest that you make the trip and visit all of these places. The vineyard is one of my favorite places in the whole entire world. Here are some non food related photos!

I hope you have an amazing morning, afternoon, or night!

Love, K.
